From Super Keen:
Mister Jiu’s is a Michelin-starred Chinese-American restaurant in San Francisco’s Chinatown, led by chef-owner Brandon Jew and co-owner/interior designer Anna Lee. When we partnered with them to redesign the website, the goal was to translate the restaurant’s heritage, elegance, and modern sensibility to their digital experience.
The restaurant already had brand materials, but they weren’t yet working as a true system. Our job was to refine and extend what was there—sharpening color application, type hierarchy, and creating a consistent visual language that could flex across future menus, events, and merch.
For inspiration, we looked closely at the details that make Mister Jiu’s feel distinct. The gold foil signage on the restaurant’s door became a cue for metallic accents online. The symbolic green woven through the interiors emerged as an accent color, paired with a deep red drawn from the exterior lanterns and Chinese culture, signifying luck and prosperity. These choices anchored a design system that felt both authentic and elevated.
The result is a website that brings the spirit of Mister Jiu’s into the digital realm. Refined, contemporary, and deeply rooted in tradition.
